These Super Green Smoothies are both nutritious AND delicious! Your whole family will love them!
Do your kids absolutely love veggies? Will they try every kind of vegetable imaginable?
My kids are not huge vegetable fans. They like corn, peas, and carrots — you know: the three basics. Beyond that, it’s an uphill battle to try to get them to eat other veggies.
Although they are more adventurous eaters at ages 11 and 14 than they were when I first posted this recipe when they were ages seven and four, they are still not huge fans of the mighty vegetable world.
Enter: our love of smoothies.
If you follow my Instagram stories, you know that we make smoothies A LOT in our house. We make a smoothie almost every day, thanks to our super awesome Vitamix (we have the Vitamix E320 pictured above, a more cost-effective but still high powered option!). We love mango carrot smoothies, fancy triple berry chia smoothies, strawberry smoothies… we’re always looking for new fruit & veggie combos.
One of our longtime faves is the Super Green Smoothie.
Super Green Smoothies
I first made this green smoothie one day during my “hey, it’s January! Maybe I’ll try to get healthy or something this year” 2-day experiment, and BAM! My son, who was then 7-years-old, tried it, his eyes widened, and out of his mouth came the words “MMMM! This tastes GOOD!”
The best part? My kids have always known there are a ton of vegetables in this smoothie (I’m not a fan of hiding food to get kids to eat things…). They’ve both helped me make this very smoothie several times over the years. They see the kale, and the cucumber. And still, my normally non-veggie kids down this smoothie like there’s some sort of magical sugar crystal inside.
I kid you not, this green smoothie is a miracle in my house, and I bow down to the Smoothie Gods each day for presenting an option which feeds more good nutrients into my kids’ bellies!

Which is why we also LIVE on smoothies! Though we get stuck in the same rut (kale or spinach, mixed berries and banana, maybe some pineapple, chia seeds, coconut water. I love the cucumber and ginger idea. Gonna try this and see how my kiddos like it!

My older daughter will eat veggies, at least some of them; my younger one, however, won’t eat a single veg. She does drink the green smoothie from Moberi, though! Unfortunately she turns down every homemade smoothie—I think it’s something about the texture from my home blender. Maybe this is a good excuse to get myself a Vitamix! ;)
Marlynn | UrbanBlissLife says
You should definitely get one!

I don’t have trouble eating my veggies in chewable form. Even at breakfast, kale with mushrooms, onion, balsamic then topped with an egg and blue cheese – that’s my go to. But I don’t have to convince anyone shorter than me. Kudos to stuffing the kiddos with veggies.
Marlynn | UrbanBlissLife says
It can be a difficult task! :)

Thanks for the awesome recipe, Marlynn! I think drinking it is great not only during summer, but it is also a great solution to prevent vitamin deficiency we experience in the fall. I personally grow greens myself and make smoothies and juices from it.
