The Cultivate Farm-to-Table Dinner is a celebration of the local family farms and food artisans in British Columbia's Fraser Valley.
Fraser Valley is made of of three main cities: Abbotsford, Langley, and Chilliwack. You've seen a small glimpse of the outdoor adventures you can experience when visiting, from my paragliding adventure to the sturgeon fishing excursion. Now I'm excited to share with you a glimpse of the culinary adventure I was honored to experience during that same trip.
The Chilliwack Corn Maze family farm was the site of the first (but organizers hope, not the last) Cultivate farm-to-table charity dinner. Created by the three sisters of the family farm – Mariah, Vanessa & Danielle – who found themselves all home again after being away for various reasons, Cultivate was a tribute to the family farms and food artisans they have grown to know and love.
With beautiful decorations, plenty of seating arrangements throughout the event space, and classically-styled natural tablescapes on farm-to-table long shared tables, the setting for Chilliwack's Cultivate 2015 was a beautiful backdrop to a night full of sweetness and light.
Fraser Valley is home to several wineries, which make a number of different varietals. I enjoyed the Chaberton Valley Gamay served this evening, as well as the white wine from the same vineyard.
Salads were served family-style at each table, and the buffet dinner included a variety of salads (the quinoa was outstanding), delicious fresh sweet Chilliwack corn on the cob, and the choice of salmon or pork tenderloin (I chose both, of course!).
The dessert table at the end of the night included a variety of mini pastries, and each guest walked away with a tasty duo of macaron cookies.
It was a night full of smiles and hugs, interesting conversations, lots of laughs, and fantastic food and drinks. I loved learning more about the local farmers of Fraser Valley and all of the amazing food and beverage artisans in this area. So much talent, and such big hearts. I was honored to be there, soaking in the beauty and the sweetness of the Fraser Valley. I hope someday you'll take the opportunity to do the same, too.

Thanks so much to all of the tourism boards – Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack – as well as Destination Think for this incredible experience! All opinions are, as always, my own.

I love how they had everyone dress in cream or white garden party attire as well. Adds to the elegance, I think!
