Beat the mid-day slump with these simple tips to get energized for the rest of the day!
Working from home is awesome. I love it!
But, I often find that I start to fade by two or three o’clock.
Do you experience a mid-day slump sometimes, too? My attention wanders, and I feel sluggish and less productive. That’s when I know it’s time to take a quick energy break!
In addition to reaching for a Sparkling Ice® +Caffeine from my local Safeway store (I’ll expand on this tip below), here are some ways I recharge mid-day.
Ways to Beat the Mid-Day Slump
Some of my favorite ways to reset my system mid-day include:
- remembering to hydrate
- finding a change of scenery
- getting some exercise
- eating healthy snacks
- seeking creative inspiration
Remember to Hydrate
Getting enough water throughout the day is the #1 thing I try to do to stay productive and focused. Mid-day, however, I like to treat myself to a fun water drink that has a little extra boost. These Sparkling Ice +Caffeine drinks in Blue Raspberry (and other fun flavors) hit the spot!
These have zero carbs, zero sugar, additional vitamins and antioxidants, and they each contain 70 mg of caffeine. That’s just the right amount of caffeine to help recharge me for the afternoon! They are available in 16 fl. oz Cans and five different flavors: Black Raspberry, Blue Raspberry, Triple Citrus, Strawberry Citrus and Orange Passion Fruit, the last four are totally new fruit combinations.
Find these at your local Safeway store. And, if you haven’t already, be sure to download the Safeway app. I use it every single week and get great deals on our favorite groceries—plus, I love the gas rewards!
Find a Change of Scenery
While you’re already up grabbing that extra glass of water or Sparkling Ice +Caffeine, consider a change of scenery for a bit. For instance, I often start working in my home office but when the mid-day slumps hit, I’ll take the office outside, work from my living room, or go to a cafe.
Get Some Exercise
I find it also helps to get my body moving to reactive my brain. Exercise, in any form, is a great way to beat the mid-day slump!
One of the many, MANY things I love about having a dog and working from home is that he requires me to stay active. Until our pup Ace is old enough to take long walks out in public, I’ll run around with him in our backyard or we’ll walk around our half acre property.
If the weather isn’t great outside, I’ll do a quick treadmill run to help beat the mid-day slump. Or, I’ll do a quick circuit with weights and kettlebells.
You don’t need equipment or a sunny day, though. You can do body weight exercises or yoga moves in your office. Anything that you can do to get your heart rate up a bit and blood flowing can help give you more energy for the rest of the day!
Eat Healthy Snacks
Brain food help so much mid-day. Some of my favorite healthy snacks to refuel include:
- almonds, cashews, and other nuts
- sunflower seeds
- apple and pear slices
- cucumber slices
- blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries
Grab Some Inspiration
Mid-afternoon is when my creativity starts to wain. I find inspiration everywhere. But when I need to get my creative juices flowing again mid-work project, I’ll flip through food, wine, and travel magazines. You can also try reading a few pages of an inspiring book, or scroll through Pinterest or Instagram.
