Even though I work from home, I am on the go a lot.
I have several meetings anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour away from my house throughout the week. I attend anywhere from one to four night events each week. And, I travel domestically and abroad from time to time (though not nearly enough to satisfy my nomadic cravings).
Because of this, I rely on a few tech travel tools to keep my life moving with me. Here are the top tech travel items that I can’t leave home without. If you’re in the market for any of these types of tech travel productivity helpers, I highly recommend each of these!
Made of 100% sustainable & renewable wool felt and high quality 100% vegetable-tanned leather. Crafted by hand, this iPad sleeve is water repellant and the perfectly stylish way to protect and transport your iPad as you trot around the globe. I love the grey wool and white leather style — so modern and goes with everything. While this sleeve does fit a standard iPad with a standard iPad cover from Apple, it doesn’t fit an iPad with detached keyboard. So I use this mainly for client meetings when I want to show them designs on-the-go, for plane and car trips where the kids will mainly be using it to play their games or watch movies, and that sort of thing.
2. Moleskine Cahir Journal (set of 3 – grey)
Old school tech will always be in my veins. I am a writer who needs to physically write, and not just type, from time to time. I always have three journals: one for work, one for the blog, and one for volunteer and personal notes. Then I have separate journals per client for long term projects. I love these journals. The side stitching is such a small but important design detail, and the size (5″ x 8″) is perfect for throwing into my purse as I head out the door.
The Mophie Juice Pack Power Station 4000 is an adorable, sleek device that allows you to recharge your mobile device or tablet while you’re on-the-go. My devices are almost always on, and thus, at any given time, one of them needs to be recharged. I love the Mophie Juice Pack Power Station because it’s so compact that it can fit into any purse and even large coat pockets when necessary. I just charge up the power station at home, and then drop it into my bag when I head out so that I never have to worry about my battery running out while I’m on a story, with a client, or out at a fun activity with my kids that will require at least 556 iPhone photos.
While I do love my iPad, there are times when I need to type and I tend to type very, very fast — on a keyboard, that is. Even my small fingers can’t fly with any sort of accuracy using the iPad touch screen. I just haven’t mastered that talent yet like some of my friends have. So for the occasions when I need a keyboard with my iPad, I love the Zagg keyboard.
