Summer is in full swing, and that means berry season! What better way to celebrate than with this delicious Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie recipe?
My family loves going berry picking, and we are lucky to live near an abundance of berry farms. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, marionberries, blueberries... we pick different kids of berries all summer long.
One of my kids' favorite way to enjoy summer berries? Smoothies. What kid doesn't love smoothies?
Recently, Bliss Boy suddenly discovered he actually loves watermelon, too. One day I picked up the freshest, juiciest, most flavorful organic watermelon from our neighborhood New Seasons Market, and blended up some delicious Strawberry Watermelon Smoothies.
My Strawberry Watermelon Smoothies consist of fresh watermelon, freshly picked strawberries, and greek yogurt. You can use frozen strawberries instead of fresh.
You can also make Strawberry Watermelon Slushies simply by eliminating the yogurt and adding some ice.

Berry Bliss
In our part of the world (Portland, Oregon), strawberry season began early this year and seems to be ending early as well. We were lucky enough to sneak in one fruitful (pun! ha!) strawberry picking visit this summer. Have you ever had an Oregon strawberry? There is honestly nothing else quite like an Oregon strawberry: we grow the sweetest, juiciest, most delicious strawberries in the world. Hood Strawberries are my favorite. When they are in season, it would be a crime not to take advantage of freshly picked berries. I hope each of you experiences the bliss of Oregon Hood Strawberries at least one in your life. Pure bliss!

I really need to get myself a blender or nutri bullet. Every time you post another recipe I want a smoothie so bad and this one sounds great. I love watermelon!!!

For as many smoothies as we make, I probably should invest in some sort of industrial juicer or fancy blender :) We just use a basic ol' blender. Enjoy all of the delicious watermelon available this summer!
