Just in time for Father’s Day, Graduation, and general Summer celebrations, comes Portland Dining Month 2013!
What is Portland Dining Month?
Throughout the month of June, you can dine at more than 80 restaurants throughout the Portland metro area. At each participating restaurant, enjoy three courses for just $29! TWENTY-NINE DOLLARS!
That’s less than one entree normally costs in many of these fab hot spots. Each restaurant has a different set of specific menu options for the Portland Dining Month 2013 special. So, be sure to check out the website for each specific special menu.
In order to reserve your Portland Dining Month experience at any of the participating restaurants, you’ll need to make your reservation via Open Table. For every reservation, DowntownPortland.org will make a donation to the Oregon Food Bank.
I’ve drooled over the menus long enough, mentally made my dinner choices for at least ten different meals, then decided to share them in a post with you below. Would you choose the same options? Almost all of the Portland Dining Month course options sound delicious to me.
Best Places to Eat in Portland During Portland Dining Month 2013
First Course – Salmon gravlax – mussels, green papaya, grapefruit
Second Course – Hoisin-glazed short rib – Asian herbs, cucumber, corn pudding
Third Course – Chocolate terrine – peanuts, caramel ice cream
2. Bar Avignon
First Course – Summer lettuces with Champagne vinaigrette
Second Course – English pea risotto – oyster mushrooms, Grana Padano
Dessert – Vanilla bean ice cream – strawberries, aged balsamic
3. Clyde Common
This restaurant offers just one option per course, and all sound delicious:
First Course – Chilled late-spring greens soup – crème fraîche, olive oil
Second Course – Braised pork shoulder – farro, pearl onions, mushrooms
Dessert – Chocolate pot de crème and vanilla panna cotta – strawberry preserves, cashew cookie
This delightful restaurant and wine bar also offers a complementary half-glass of Prosecco upon arrival, as well as additional optional special wine pairings for all three courses for $17.
First Course – Wild mushroom soup – chicken stock, thyme oil
Second Course – House-made tajarin pasta – sage butter and Parmesan
Dessert – Chocolate bonet – a mousse-like flan with amaretti cookie crust and caramel
First Course – Chili spice shrimp – asparagus, black garlic, ginger miso
Second Course – Marinated flank steak – avocado, red onion, pea shoot, mint
Dessert – Coconut milk chocolate bar – mocha ice cream, crystallized ginger, spiced popcorn
The Portland Dining Month specials will change out each week, so be sure to call the restaurant at 503-238-1464 for current menu details. As of June 3rd, the menu consists of:
First Course – Guinea hen conserva – tomato aioli, taggiasca olive, caper
Second Course – Cappellini – pancetta, broken egg, black pepper
Third Course – Braised elk shin – crispy potato, carrot
7. Mother’s Bistro
I love this one because you get to choose ANY small salad or soup, ANY entree, and ANY dessert!
8. Riffle NW
First Course – Smoked salmon salad – mesquite-smoked Oregon Coast salmon on a bed of arugula dressed with a sweet and tart strawberry rhubarb vinaigrette and topped with toasted walnuts
Second Course – Grilled prawn and braised pork belly – grilled prawn with braised and crisped pork belly, served atop a spicy horseradish slaw and pork jus
Dessert – Brandied cherry shortcake – house-brandied cherries served with a sweet biscuit and topped with a crème fraîche Chantilly
My husband and I ate here recently to celebrate his 40th birthday. The staff was amazing. The food was incredible. A full review is coming soon, but in the meantime, know that the menu items below are cooked to near absolute perfection. I also just happen to have a photo of their tasty creme brulee.

Second Course – Tender steak medallions – mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas, mushrooms and sauce Bordelaise
Dessert – Crème brûlée
First Course – Kale salad – shredded kale, lemon, edamame, toasted sesame
