Tim Tam biscuits are chocolaty treats perfect to share with good friends over coffee and tea!
During this month of reflection and giving thanks, I am grateful for the various circle of friends who create an incredible web of support in this crazy game of life.
We always spend Thanksgiving with my family, and many of our friends travel away to visit their families during Thanksgiving week. Between travel, the kids being home from school, and potential family stresses that can happen during the holidays, I think it would be fun to get all of your friends together before Thanksgiving week – before school gets out for the holidays – to host a Friendsgiving break!
Moms Friendsgiving Morning Break
My #1 rule to throwing a Moms Friendsgiving Morning Break: stress less.
Sometimes, spontaneous gatherings are the best – especially when your guest list consists of mostly moms. Our schedules change minute-by-minute sometimes, and I’ve learned that some of our best gatherings are the ones that involve a simple last minute group text invite.
In fact, these photos were all taken from just that: a spontaneous group text invite for a morning walk. I followed up that invite with an invite to my house after the walk for coffee and snacks. Everyone was in, and our mini Friendsgiving break was on!
My house was a slight mess from both my husband and I traveling the week prior, and crazy schedules for all of us. But in 15 minutes, I was able to vacuum the living room and kitchen, start a pot of coffee, find some snacks in our pantry and refrigerator, and set up our coffee table with mugs and plates all ready and waiting for us upon our return from the walk.
Entertaining Bliss Tip: collect inexpensive white plates, mugs, and serving trays. This not only keeps everything coordinated; food also tends to look more attractive on plain white plates! Then simply fill in with one or two seasonal items, such as the Thanks a Latte plate and fall colored linens.
NO stress, folks!
I’ve learned to stock a few staples in the house mostly for my own personal snacking, but these snacks also come in handy when you have last minute house guests.
Here’s a small sample of snacks I like to keep on hand at all times:
- almonds, cashews, and Oregon hazelnuts
- fruit (grapes, apples, pears, oranges are all easy to set out for company!)
- granola + yogurt (fast parfaits!)
- coffee and tea
- something sweet
In this case, that something sweet was a set of Tim Tam biscuits.
Aside from having a super catchy name that’s fun to sing over and over again (Tim Tam, Tim Tam!), Tim Tam biscuits are DELICIOUS. They are chocolaty, with a soft crunchy inside, and they come in three flavors: Original, Classic Dark, and Chewy Caramel.
Don’t ask me which one is my favorite. That’s like asking me to choose my favorite child. I love them all the same! I’m not even kidding.
So I will tell you that my daughter loves the original, one of my friends loves the Chewy Caramel, and the Dark Chocolate seems to be enjoyed by everyone who has tried it.
After our walk, my friends and I headed to my house where I set out the Tim Tams, grapes, cheese, almonds, dried cherries, and I poured some coffee and set out a pot of tea.
Simple, but what I like to call “Real Mom-Perfect.” Nothing fancy. Because remember: real friends don’t require you, your house, or what you serve when they come over, to be fancy. They don’t require you to be anything but your amazing self, just as you are!
And really, some comfy couches or even a spot on the floor is all you need to complete this Friendsgiving coffee and chocolate break. Where good friends equal easy conversation about anything and everything.
I love this month because it is a good reminder to give thanks, but I feel like it’s important to remember to share moments like this with your girlfriends all year long. I am so grateful to have neighbors who are friends to go on walks with, and who are totally down with last minute text invitations to come over for a moms’ Friendsgiving morning coffee and chocolate break.
We all need breaks from time to time, especially before the madness of the holidays are upon us. I hope this post inspires you to take a Friendsgiving break with your dear ones. Remember: keep it simple, low stress, and all about the love and gratitude.
Cheers to good friends!
