When was the last time you switched up your home decor? Do you decorate your home based on the seasons?
I remember the days when I would be able to have a few hours over the weekend to work on house projects, on my art, on crafts, on decorating my home. Those days are few and far between now, so when I was presented the opportunity to work with Minted on a home decor and art project, I was thrilled! I decided it was time to switch up our main living room wall.
Here’s what it’s looked like for the past year or so:

It’s not bad, and I loved it for a long time, but since I work from home, I think I tend to get bored looking at the walls more than most people. Although I could look at those ADORABLE little baby faces all day long, the wall needed a little something new.
Decorating for all seasons
While I love getting into each season and appreciating it for its unique qualities (fall leaves, spring blooms, etc.), I find that as life gets busier, it becomes more stressful to try to switch out main decorations and furniture so often. Instead, I prefer to have mainstay pieces that have classic lines and lots of color, but that are easy to dress up with smaller accessories from season to season.
That’s where Minted comes in.
You may know Minted has beautiful holiday cards and invitations, and you may know that they also make gorgeous party decorations, but did you know they have an AMAZING selection of original artwork that is designed by independent artists from around the world? And, you can bring the talent from these independent designers into your home not only in the form on printed artwork for your walls, but also in the form of fabrics, such as curtains, pillows, table linens, and even lampshades.
Crazy, right? How did I not know this before? As a graphic designer myself, I have always admired Minted’s high quality stationery, and their commitment to their supportive community of artists and designers, and I love that they’ve expanded to allow everyday homeowners like you and me a chance to jazz up our homes with an independent artist’s creation, in many forms.
We already have an overabundance of pillows and table linens, and our curtains are fairly new, so I opted instead to order some focal pieces for the wall.
Quality in every detail
I know this post is supposed to be about the cool stuff you can get, but if you’re like me, you also really appreciate getting all of that cool stuff in even cooler packaging.
Ordering large artwork online can be scary; will it make it all the way to my doorstep without breaking?
You can rest all of those fears when you order from Minted. Here’s how my artwork arrived:
Cool boxes, right? When you open them up, you’ll find your artwork (depending on the size, and whether you ordered it framed or unframed) wrapped oh so carefully in bubble wrap within another special art box.
The interior of the boxes are signed by some of Minted’s featured artists, and with each order, you receive information about that individual artist. I LOVE this.
Minted has several options for artwork sizes as well as for framing, from unframed to solid white or white brushed frames to unfinished wood frames. I chose black frames to help these pieces stand out a bit in the sea of white framed photos I already had on my wall.
Here are my walls now, refreshed and ready for a new season – and every season thereafter – with a mix of the old photos I had up and the new artwork from Minted artists.
Of course, now I am thinking: gosh, wouldn’t it be cool to get a lampshade with the middle art as the wrap-around design?
Maybe next time. For now, I am loving the pops of color the large prints add to our walls, and how they complement the photos of our kids.
