Snacking with a delicious, nutritious purpose just got easier with four new flavors of bean-based Beanitos chips.
I love snacks.
You know those people who can just eat three square meals a day and be totally content? That is so NOT me. I love to snack in-between meals – sometimes twice in-between meals! Sure, maybe some of my portions could technically qualify for second lunch and second dinner, but being constantly on-the-go means I need fuel all day and night long.
I also get very, very hangry. It’s not pretty.
Now that I am snacking with kids often in tow, I try to be more mindful of the snacks I consume. We LOVE chips in our family, but as a mom, the majority of chips on the market scare me, and if we’re all going to be consuming calories, they should at least offer some nutritional value, right?
So I was pretty stoked to try out the new flavors from Beanitos chips.
Beanitos are bean-based chips that are 100-percent baked and come in a wide variety of flavors, including four new flavors that were just released! They are non-GMO, gluten-free, and most varieties are either vegan or vegetarian (be sure to check the back of the package for these labels).
I took the new Beanitos chips flavors out for a test drive with my kids and my son’s friend recently when we all went Pokémon hunting (come on, you know you love Pokémon Go, too!).
The unanimous favorite out of all four flavors: the Black & White Bean Skinny Dippers. These look just like the typical corn and black bean chips you might get when you order chips & salsa at a restaurant, but they’re much better for you.
The Skinny Dippers are 100-percent baked chips with only 90 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving. Each bag contains a mix of black and white bean chips, delivering ¼ cup of beans in every serving.
If these chips help satisfy hunger while out hunting for rare Pokémon and battling Pokémon gyms, imagine how they can help satisfy those mid-afternoon crunch cravings you have at the office?
In fact, my personal favorite? The Beanitos Garden Fresh Salsa.
These chips. Oh my.
It’s like they figured out a way to powder fresh salsa and coat each chip with a deliciously addictive salsa powder. With 5 grams of protein and fiber per serving, these are packed with all of the traditional salsa flavor: fresh garden herbs, spices, ripe tomatoes, and garlic. These are so good. I’m actually eating them right now as I type, and I’m pretty sure I’ll need to wipe down my computer keyboard afterward. WORTH IT!
Two other new flavors of Beanitos chips include:
- Mac N’ Cheese Crunch— these are sort of like a healthier version of those day-glow orange powdery cheese chips that are banned in my house but the grandparents seem to insist on buying them for the kids in our absence. You know which ones I am talking about. Except the Beanitos Mac N’ Cheese Crunch chips are 100-percent baked and contain 3 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein per serving. Again: snacking with a purpose!
- Sweet Chili & Sour Cream—This new chip is inspired by global flavors and brings together the spice from sweet chili peppers paired with sour cream. Watch for the heat of the spice on this one if you are sensitive to spicy foods: it’s a slow burn that initially tastes mild and sweet but then the spices rise up over time and hit you toward the back of your throat. If you like your food a little spicy, then this chip is for you! And with 5 grams of protein and fiber in every serving, it’s another great option for purposeful snacking.
Beanitos are available at several grocery stores including Whole Foods Market, Fred Meyer, Rite Aid, Safeway Store, Vons, Sprout, as well as Amazon. And, for a limited time only, you can find the Mac N’ Cheese Crunch flavor in 21 ounce bags at Costco in Oregon! Click here to find products near you.
Which flavor would you like to try the most?
Thanks to Beanitos for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions and photos are my own.
