I was never really a big Halloween gal until I had kids. Now I find that each year, I get more and more into it. Our decorations around the house and outside of the house add up. I get excited about new Halloween crafts. The kids and I sing Halloween songs starting at the end of September. It becomes more and more fun each year.
The one thing I don’t do is the pumpkin carving. As much as I love creating, I leave that fun creative project up to my husband. He and my son — that’s their “thing” each Halloween, and I love it. Here’s one of their creations this year:
Last year, my kids chose their costumes for this year right after Halloween, which was a total bonus for me since I only spent $5 on each costume! Which reminds me, I need to get myself to Target again right now before the good costumes are gone…
We went trick-or-treating again with my brother and his kids around our neighborhood. It was a gorgeous night out and the kids were outside trick-or-treating for an hour and a half! That’s a long time for four kids under age 6 to walk up and down a lot of hills.
All in all, I realize I enjoy Halloween so much more each year as my kids get into it more and more. Their excitement and enthusiasm is infections — it makes me want to do everything I can to fuel their creativity and happiness. :) What did you do this Halloween?
