Recently, I posted on Facebook about getting my Google Reader subscriptions down to 88 (it has since grown again to 96). It used to be well over 200. But who has time to read hundreds of blogs a day (unless you get paid to do so, that is)? Nobody. I’ve learned to be absolutely ruthless about which sites I keep in my feed reader, and which go away. A friend or two suggested I share which sites I subscribe to, and I’ve received a few emails from others agreeing with the suggestion. Instead of merely listing them, I’m going to start a Follow Friday series on this blog, featuring a new site to which I subscribe each week.
Now here’s the fun part: after reading my Follow Friday post & visiting the week’s featured site, I would love, love, LOVE for YOU to share ONE Follow Friday of your own. It can be:
* a blog that you love
* a news site you read everyday
* the Twitter account of someone who inspires you each day
* a fabulous Facebook page that you think others MUST “like” and follow
* and yes, you can use this to promote your very own latest business venture/blog/Twitter account/Facebook page.
You can either add the site to the bottom of the post using the McLinky thumbnail link option, AND/or you can leave a comment to the post with the name & link of your suggested Follow Friday.
Sound fun? Of course it is! Who couldn’t use a little more inspiration in their lives? What I love about my circle of friends –online and IRL– is how diverse you all are. So share what inspires you.
Here’s the first glimpse of my inspiration — my first blog Follow Friday:
What: A personal portfolio site as well as design inspiration blog developed and maintained by Fabien Barral, a graphic designer living and working in the countryside of Auvergne, France (must be rough, Fabien ;).
What I love: his own incredible talent that shines in his own work and the stunning photos and graphic design examples he shares
Why I follow: almost every post stirs up not only the creative in me but also the business person in me. His site makes me want to be a better designer, marketer, citizen of the visual world.
He also created this gorgeous letterpress calendar with inspiring sayings for graphic designers
Now it’s YOUR turn. What do you think of Graphic ExchanGE? What sites/blogs/Tweeps/Facebook pages inspire YOU?
