Are you ready for some football?
Mr. Bliss is a HUGE football fan and definitely has his favorite college and pro teams. There was definitely some football excitement over Thanksgiving… Meanwhile, I have my own favorite football teams. They are: Team Food and Team Beverages.
While I enjoy sitting around with family and friends watching a good game, I enjoy the good eating that accompanies game day even more. Sometimes, when I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll break out the wings and dipping sauce. But you can still have great game day snacks without even turning on the stove or oven (bonus!).
Game Day Light Bites
When it’s just you and your sweetie and the kids at home, forget the heavy chips and dip and instead, set out a selection of light bites that everyone can snack on.
Here are some of my favorite fast bites to put together:
- Salami, prosciutto, or sopresatta
- Cheese slices
- Crackers or baguette slices
- Grapes, orange slices, and other fruit bites
- A variety of olives
- Roasted tomatoes
You can either arrange these all nicely on one big platter, or separate them into smaller bowls and plates, as I did here. This way, you can also easily move plates and bowls around the room.
Right now, Blue Diamond Almonds has a delicious Smokehouse flavor that is just right for football season. These have a rich smoky flavor that pair perfectly with cheddar cheese and charcuterie.
Now for game night…
While my husband has his game day fun during football season, I have my own game night: Bunco. This suburban housewife’s dice game is definitely more in line with my type of game! You can put together a similar easy light bites selection above for game night, but I’d suggest spicing up the flavor a bit with some Blue Diamond Almonds Wasabi & Soy Sauce at your next ladies’ game night.
The Wasabi & Soy Sauce is for the truly adventurous player who likes to spice things up in the game. It’s a unique twist and an interesting conversation starter, for sure!
Whether you’re a Game Day or a Game Night kind of gal, it’s super easy to keep things light and tasty at the table with lots of game changing flavors!
What other type of food items would you add to your game time light bites?
