I’ll begin with a confession: I see football season as simply another fabulous excuse to get together with friends, yell random things at the TV, and feast on good food. Oh, I do love the game itself, and have a few allegiances, but I just can’t get invested to follow it from the start of the season to the end.
So here we are. Nearing the end of the season, and now I am ALL IN. That means it’s time to think about what to serve at The Big Game. You know which one. It’s coming up, and what’s a Big Game party, without chicken wings? Not a party at all, I say. Chicken wings are a MUST at any football viewing party, whether it’s a party of 40 or party of four. So I’ve come up with a couple of winning dipping sauces to dip those delicious wings in.
Hot Wings to Go!
I love making various chicken wing recipes from scratch, but let’s get real: sometimes life gets super crazy and you’re totally pressed for time. That’s where your neighborhood deli comes in. Tyson has teamed up with Walmart to offer fresh cooked chicken wings in their deli section. So all you have to do is pop on in and pick up as many or as few as you want!
You can choose from General Tso’s boneless chicken wings, bone-in wings, Buffalo boneless wings, or the pick 3 bucket. You might want to do what I did and call ahead. That way, the deli can be sure to have the flavor you want freshly made by the time you walk in. It’s like magic!
I picked up General Tso’s boneless wings and a pound of bone-in wings, and decided to make a dipping sauce for both. The General Tso’s boneless chicken wings were my husband’s favorite. They have just enough kick to them, so I wanted to complement the heat with an asian dipping sauce with tangy flavors.
Dairy-Free, Sugar-Free Dipping Sauces
Because of my current health journey, both of these sauces are dairy-free and sugar-free. However, if you don’t have these dietary restrictions, you are more than welcome to substitute my ingredients for the regular sugar and dairy ingredients.
Lime Cilantro Soy Dipping Sauce
I should begin by letting you know that I LOVE cilantro. I put a lot of it in this dipping sauce, as you can see from the photos. If you love it as much as I do, you’ll want to make it with the same amount. I love it so much that it just makes me happy seeing all of those gorgeous greens dancing at the top of the dipping sauce.
If you are not a huge cilantro fan, you can simply cut back on the amount. Try 1/2 teaspoon instead.
I recommend finding a sugar-free, gluten-free soy sauce, such as San-J Organic Gluten Free Tamari. You can also use whatever soy sauce you happen to have in your pantry instead of finding a sugar-free, gluten-free kind.
