Ahh at long last: Fall is officially here. I love autumn! Don’t you? It’s time for fall baking, cozy throws, and really good wine enjoyed with even better friends by a crackling fire. It’s also a great time to change things up indoors to match the warm and cozy autumn mood.
Although my home decorating tastes tend to be bold (black & white mod bedroom, anyone?) and bright and cheery (remember the DIY marquee project? It lights up our colorful living room!), when the weather turns, I yearn for comfortable decor that isn’t too jarring or crazy.
Or maybe it’s just that I’m getting older and my tastes are less “wild child” and more “wine country farm girl.” It could be that, too.
Enter Target. I shop at Target at least once a week, and right now I am LOVING their plaid collections! Have you been lately? If not, you HAVE to check out the home sections. The redesigned displays in most Target home sections are like showrooms and are totally Instagram-worthy!
It totally plays into my current obsession with flannel shirts (my inner 90’s Portland girl is coming out to play; I own six plaid flannel shirts now), but on a different level. Recently, I went on a little shopping spree courtesy of my friends at Target, and outfitted my dining area and kitchen for fall entertaining.
Target Style: Rad Plaid for Fall Entertaining
I thought it would be fun to put together a cozy coffee and pastries gathering. So come on in, and take a seat at my new rad plaid fall table!
It just screams AUTUMN, right? So cozy, farm-girl chic–that’s what I’m aspiring to, at least. ;) I am so happy with this table. It just makes me want to pull up a chair and spend hours laughing and noshing with my mom friends. With lots of hot coffee, of course.
I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy home decor, and I was really inspired by how the Target plaid collections feature different home, office, technology, and apparel products that have different color combos and plaid patterns that all still go so well together.
My children’s favorite Target plaid products are these gorgeous monogram mugs, with hints of classic plaid coming through the monogram letters.
These are super thick, sturdy, beautifully made mugs.
The navy blue and white placemats offer a more subtle plaid pattern.
I whipped up some classic fall baked goods: my kids’ favorite chocolate chip pumpkin bread recipe, along with some traditional individual apple pies.
This ADORABLE navy blue plaid apron from Target made me feel a little like Martha. Just a little. I think it might be my favorite plaid Target style find!
Luckily, I also had these well-designed plaid spatulas and wooden spoons from Target to use while baking in the kitchen.
I adored these beautiful kitchen towels in navy blue and white plaid and burnt orange and white plaid. A set hangs permanently on my oven handle, while another is at the ready to be used to help protect my dining table from heated dishes.
Target also has a gorgeous selection of tableware decorations, such as succulents, vases, and these super fun plaid candles.
As you can see, while I used plaid throughout my tablescape and kitchen, the plaids are of different widths, patterns, and colors. This helps add some diversity and interest, while not being too in-your-face.
So this is my fall table. While there are TONS of awesome bold, bright plaid products at Target right now, I was feeling a little more subdued–a little more traditional–compared to my usual loud, colorful home decorating style.
What do you think? Does the traditional, muted plaid decor appeal to you? Or would you go for some of the more bold plaid combos of black, red, and white that Target style offers? You’d sit for a spell and enjoy some coffee and pastries at this table with me, right? Come on over!
