I’m curious: when you were a kid, did your parents pretend there was a real Easter Bunny who hid eggs and brought baskets of candy?
I grew up in a very religious family that made a huge deal out of Easter, and yet, not once do I remember my parents or any of my aunts and uncles advancing the facade of the actual existence of THE Easter Bunny. Maybe they were so busy still recovering from the Big Santa Cover Up (and rightfully so).
Flash forward to present day and I have to admit: my husband and I have never really pretended either way with the Bliss Kids. Sure, they get Easter baskets full of good stuff, and we usually dye eggs and have an Easter egg hunt. But they’ve never really asked pointed questions about THE Easter Bunny. . . until this week, when we told them of our Easter plans.
This year, we’re excited to have reservations at Besaw’s, a Portland brunch institution, for their special Easter Brunch. I can’t wait!
Easter Brunch at Besaw’s
Growing up in Portland, I’ve always loved meeting friends and family for brunch, lunch or dinner at Besaw’s, but in my mind it will always be one of the top brunch spots in the city that dotes on brunch as much as it does its craft beverages and artisan coffees.
The Besaw’s chefs have two specials cooked up for this Sunday’s Easter Brunch: Braised Rabbit, Asparagus & Brie Scramble and a Dungeness Crab Benedict. If you’ve never had Dungeness Crab before, I highly suggest trying this dish. Fresh Pacific NW Dungeness Crab is SO delicious! My favorites from the regular Besaw’s menu: the Wild Salmon Scramble, the Corned Beef Hash, and the Scratch Biscuits and Gravy.
After brunch, the kids will be participating in the 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the adjacent Besaw’s garden.
Besaw’s Easter Egg Hunt
Besaw’s will have four scheduled times for the hunt this year: 10am, 11am, 12pm, and 1pm.
If you join us at Besaw’s this Sunday, you and your family will be treated not only to Besaw’s fabulous brunch, but also:
- Sightings of the Besaw’s Bunny
- Pictures with the Besaw’s Bunny
- A craft table in front of the garden for bag decoration before each egg hunt
- Visits with the Besaw’s Bunny during brunch service, when he is not in the garden helping kids find the eggs
