It’s coming. The day that I anticipate during the lingering sun-splashed weeks of swimming, hiking, exploring, laid-back fun. The first day of school is next week for us; the countdown is on.
I’ve washed out the kids’ lunchboxes and lunch containers. Their school supplies are already in their desks and distributed in their classrooms. School clothes and shoes for the new year have been ready for about a month now. The kids are excited and so very ready to begin the new school year.
I am not. I don’t think I ever am. Emotionally, I’m a bit of a pathetic wreck the whole week leading up to school and the whole first week of school. This Mom gig sometimes rips at my heartstrings more than I feel I am capable of holding on.
Last year I wrote notes out to the kids on personalized stationery I made for them. My son actually really enjoyed the notes and saved them in his backpack for a long time. Here’s what my kids’ personal notes look like:
This year, in addition to those personal notes, I thought I would design some free back-to-school printables for my fellow parents. I thought that surely I cannot be the only one who is a total sap and does silly things like this to quell my overly emotional Mom nerves. Right? Right?? ;)
They are slightly larger than a standard business card, and perfect for slipping into lunches and backpacks.
I’m also working on Silly School Slips that have kid-friendly jokes on them. We got an awesome joke book from the good folks at Ringling Bros. Circus and my son cannot get enough of it! (PS: the circus is coming to Portland this month! Want to win a family 4-pack of tickets? Watch for a giveaway coming in the next few days!!). Not sure if I can get the Silly School Slips done before the start of school here, but watch for them sometime this month… trying to fit it in between this whole full-time work/full-time mom/part-time blogger life… :)
I hope you can use these printables! If you do, please leave a comment as I would LOVE to hear from you! And please feel free to share on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook with your friends & family who might like them! Thanks, friends, and HAPPY BACK-TO-SCHOOL time!
DIRECTIONS: Download the Urban Bliss Lunch Love Notes Printable PDF file (you need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free online). Print these out onto thick white cardstock, cut around the edges, write a personal note if you wish, and tuck away into your child’s lunchbox or backpack. Then send them off with a huge hug and a little lunch love note for later.
USAGE NOTE: Urban Bliss printables are for personal use only. I love when readers and Urban Bliss clients use my printables and share photos of them in use on their blogs or pin them onto Pinterest!
