Create an amazing day by developing a fresh start routine using my 5 tips for creating good morning bliss!
Good Monday morning! I’m so excited to kick off another exciting week! How about you?
I used to be a morning person. I’d jump out of bed, ready to tackle the day! And then… I had kids. Then I began the slow descent into gaining citizenship as a permanent zombie.
But in recent months I have been getting my morning groove back. I’ve made little changes here and there, and also had the pleasure of coming across some time-saving kitchen tools too.
Here are a few tips for good morning bliss that work for me.
5 Tips for Creating Good Morning Bliss
- Drink water with lemon as soon as you wake up.
The bright lemon scent alone does wonders to wake up your senses in a happy way. The citric acid in vitamin C also helps your body digest food better throughout the day. Plus, feeding your body some lemon water first thing in the morning helps boost your immune system after hours of laying down.
- Get your body moving.
A few days a week, my husband and I hit the gym first thing in the morning. I never, ever thought I’d be a gym person, much less one of those people who woke up early in order to go to the gym. And yet, here I am, seven months after we started, still going strong. If I can do it, YOU most definitely can too!
- Caffeinate wisely.
I’m a liquids gal in the morning: I love my lemon water, AND my coffee first thing each day. Studies show that a moderate amount of caffeine can provide multiple health benefits, including lowering rates of depression and suicide among women, lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, colorectal cancer, and more.
While I have a large pot that I can brew overnight, when I want a really decadent, full-bodied quality coffee in a short amount of time, I love the pour over coffee method.
Recently was given two OXO products to test out: the OXO Adjustable Temperature Kettle and the OXO Pour-Over Coffee Maker with Water Tank. The kettle is cool because it doesn’t take up additional stovetop space: you plug it in, adjust the temperature (there’s even a handy guide ON the kettle to tell you which temperature to set for tea, coffee, etc!), then allow the water to heat up.
- Fix a quick, hearty breakfast.
I’ll admit: I have to sometimes force myself to eat something after I get the coffee started. Yet every time I do, I realize how IMPORTANT it is to refuel with food early in the day.
Ya’ll know how much I LOVE bacon, right? If you’re in a pinch, the Microwave Bacon Crisper makes crisp bacon quickly in the microwave. It’s a pretty cool little contraption!
Now, the Microwave Omelet Maker was the new OXO tool that truly impressed my 12-year-old. I made a 2-egg omelet with a little bit of almond milk mixed in. He took the omelet maker out of the microwave and exclaimed, “WHOA. Mom! This thing did that in the microwave??”Impressing a middle school kid is quite the feat, so kudos OXO for creating this! The omelet was amazing: light, fluffy, perfectly cooked.I actually added some dairy-free shredded “cheddar” cheese to the middle right after my son took it out of the microwave and let it sit for a minute. Voila! “Cheese” omelet!
- Love fiercely.
Nobody leaves my house in the morning without proper goodbyes and “I Love You”s. My 9-year-old will still snuggle my with hugs in the morning, and even my middle schooler gives in to the Mom Hug before he goes to school. Of all of the steps, this is the one that I personally cannot start the day without. This is the step that ensures no matter what comes my way in the day ahead, I can face it, because I’ve got heaps and heaps of love to get me through the day.So spend time snuggling your loved ones, which includes your dog or cat or horse – and watch that good morning bliss shine and last until night.
Do you do some of these things, too, first thing in the morning? What are your other tips for good morning bliss?
